learn to sew dance costumes Course Details
Join us to learn dressmaking for stretch fabric.
We provide a set of proven stretch blocks and will show students how to alter the blocks for difference sizes and create pattern variations. You will work on a number of sample garments and then produce a unique costume to showcase your skills and talent.
Embellishment techniques suitable for dance and street wear are taught and these include the application of crystals, beads and sequins to garments using glue and hand applications.

Two types of one piece leotards
Leggings
Shorts in bikini, high brief, and boy-leg style
Bikini top
Camisole
Unitard with sleeves and collar
This course will cover:
Pattern alteration using block patterns
Importance of fabric selection and materials preparation
Techniques used to sew stretch garments using a sewing machine and overlocker. Techniques include seam finishes, edge finishes, zip and other fastenings, applique and colour blocking.
Costume insights including altering costumes, perspiration prevention, sculpting structured panels, and the use of wadding as a design tool.
Adjusting and fitting a pattern
Embellishing stretch fabric with crystals and beads
